When I stood in front of this painting at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, I felt a very unique sense of being inside it. I would say it was almost a physical experience, which is not something that occurs for me often when I see a painting. I respect it very much for the fact that it is not just a two dimensional image, but more of a doorway, or an extension of this world. Obviously the internet reproduction can do it no justice, but you must believe me. If you get the chance, go see it. I really hope I have another opportunity at some point in my life.
